DAYS 35-37
TRAVELING NEW HAMPSHIRE, VERMONT, NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, OHIO

The scenery in these states is really beautiful. We didn’t have any specific destinations. We stopped here and there just to enjoy the scenery or take in some of the local culture.

Molly Stark State Park in Vermont was clean and quiet. If we were not on our way to Ohio, we might have stayed here longer.

We did some shopping in Bennington, Vermont. What a neat place. We stocked up on our maple syrup, Vermont cheese, and local fruit and vegetables. It’s hard to see in the pictures, but they have life-sized statues of people in various activities. The two guys reading the newspaper are actually statues! The guy sitting on the steps and the one painting are statues. Once we realized they were statues, we couldn’t find a place to pull off with the RV. It would be a fun place to explore.

As pretty as it was, driving through New York State seemed like it was forever.

We finally reached Ohio and arrived at my sister’s house in Perry.

DAY 35 MAINE

DAY 35

KENNEBUNKPORT, MAINE

What an interesting and beautiful place. We had planned to go to Acadia National Forest, but when we woke up this morning, we discovered lots of fog and impending rain, so we changed our plans. That’s what is so great about this trip!

We backtracked to Kennebunkport, Maine. Wow. Seeing the rocks on the banks of the ocean were beautiful.

We went down to the dock and watched the fishermen for a while and saw these cute little boys having their picture taken, so we took it too.

We saw Walker Point where Former President Bush has his home.

We met Chris, an 86 year-old artist from Stuart, Florida. He paints in this area during the summer. He has painted several pictures of Bush’s mansion, and the ocean. His work is displayed in the Bush’s home. Here is his current work.

This turned out to be one of our favorite detours.

DAY 34 PLYMOUTH, MA

PLYMOUTH, MA

We arrived at Plymouth Plantation early in the day. We met the Wampanoag Native Americans. Their perspective made it clear that this was an uneven way of trade.

The early pilgrims had high ideals for freedom, but what they did to the Native Americans makes you think. We saw how both sides lived and viewed their circumstances.

We also visited the original Plymouth Rock. It is much smaller than you might anticipate. They are currently working on a way to protect it from further destruction. It is cracked.

Next we visited the Mayflower II. It is an exact reproduction of the original and has sailed to England and back. The sailors and crew had to learn how to sail in the 17th century.

Plymouth has some really pretty houses and scenery.

Next stop: Maine

DAY 33 BOSTON, MA

DAY 32 BOSTON, MA

Our challenge was traveling into Boston. We didn’t know exactly where we should go. As we entered the city, we stopped on the side of the road to look at a map and call a couple of tour companies. As we were getting our bearings, a decent Boston Police Officer stopped and asked if we were okay. He gave us directions of what exit to take and where we needed to go.

This suspension bridge is considered a waste of money as it must be closed down during snowstorms in the winter. The beauty of it is not functional in eliminating the snow in the winter. You can probably picture what happens as the snow collects on the suspension bands. But it sure is pretty.

We finally found a perfect parking place above the Hard Rock Café and directly in the center of town. We approached a Trolley post and purchased tickets that took us around the city and provided us with a Harbor Cruise. This turned out to be a great adventure.
